Ms. Julie and Ms. Meg

Friends and fresh air, we are all smiles at Seager.

SEAGER’S OUTDOOR CLASSROOM IN MAY

This month we have had fun learning about Things That Grow

As class prepared the outdoor planter box with soil, seeds, and also used a plastic hoe

In science, the class learned about and labeled the different parts of a plant and also the life cycle of a butterfly

We grew our own class butterflies and soon we will release them and give each a special goodbye

In art, we hammered nature, learned about symmetry, and painted at the easel with a flower

For STEM, we will build bridges with craft sticks, LEGOs, and blocks some might be long and others as tall as a tower

The garden center is such fun for all in our dramatic play

We enjoy making and delivering beautiful flower bouquets and we planted real seeds that we hope grow during the month of May

Each day we are practicing writing our first and last name

We also went on a letter hunt, we play fun games with rhyming sounds, and we love concentration snap words by trying to find the matching words that are both the same

We have enjoyed this year having nature a huge part of our learning and play

We will truly miss this spectacular group of students learning, growing and having fun each day

Fizzy science art, the class had fun dropping vinegar and water colors onto paper plates filled with baking soda.
Creating beautiful works of art with flowers at our garden center.
Getting the garden bed ready at Seager. We dug holes in the soil with shovels and planted grass and flower seeds. We love digging in the dirt.
We read books about butterflies and noticed the symmetry on the butterfly’s wings. Here we are making symmetry art.
Flower math puzzles.
We each made the life cycle of a butterfly using beans and noodles for each stage.
Watching our chrysalises change into butterflies.
Moving to music with the stretchy band.
Painting with flowers.
Playing a class favorite movement game called Teachers versus Students Tag.

The class found many different flowers and leaves on a hike. Then they arranged on paper for hammer art. We discovered nature can transfer many brilliant colors on paper.
Here is a beautiful bouquet created in the garden center and being delivered to someone special in our Seager classroom.
